Gamewank S02E03

Gamewank S02E03

The 3rd instalment of Gamewank series 2 is live, the boys are back with a fantastically funny and smutty episode of filth and porn inspired nonsense mixed with the usual brilliantly insightful games commentary.

The most exciting thing for me during this episode is that I get a mention from Rich (For apparently being obsessed with my xbox gamer score! Although this is technically true Rich did fail to mention the reason why! About 2 years ago I bought my xbox 360 after a 3 year gaming gap due to University. About 5 months after buying the xbox my good friend Scott Campbell came in to the living room and said ‘you’ve only got 1500g’s! My reply was ‘what the hell are g’s’. After being educated in what the gamer score system was I asked him how many he had. At the time I believe that he had the grand total of 2600ish (I did point out at the time that he had 2 years xbox gaming on me so the fact he didn’t even have double mine was lame!) Not long after that our flats toilet exploded and we were sent to live in a temporary Trainspotting like flat on Leith Walk. With no TV service and the threat of constant death outside I embarked on a 3month gamer score addiction to beat Scott to a G-pulp. Before returning to our regular flat I had accrued an additional 14,000 G’s. Mr Campbell on the other hand had pretty much remained static. Since then The G’s have not been the main focus of my gaming pleasure. I would say my lowest point was playing ‘Dr Robotniks mean bean machine’ on the Sega Megadrive ultimate collection for 3 weeks almost nonstop in order to get the measly 50g’s for completing the game.

Anyway I really like this episode of Gamewank because in the main this episode is about the interaction between Jim & Rich which is what gives Gamewank its unique charm. Jim reviews Mass Effect 2′s Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC whilst Rich looks at the fabulous Scott Pilgrim game. Rich also concludes him Metroid retrospective, this without a doubt was my favorite part of the episode as it is packed with interesting content about the 6 games that it covers whilst also remaining entertaining. I have never played any of the Metroid games before but after listening to Rich retrospectives I really wish I had.

The rest of the episode is packed full of hilarious and interesting stuff, a special thanks to Jim as the day that the new episode came out I was contemplating buying Mafia II based on the demo I had played, after Jims review I decided to leave Mafia II to the Love Film list and keep my hard earned £40.
